Recently, the developers of Eldegarde (formerly known as Legacy: Steel & Sorcery) announced the closure of the project. This happened a month after the release of version 1.0.
Eldegarde is a \"mini-MMO action-RPG with PvE, PvPvE\" and evacuation mechanics.
Some of the best games today didn't become hits right away — they gradually built an audience and eventually achieved their original goal. I am absolutely confident that if Eldegarde had been given more time, it would have achieved great success as well. However, the gaming industry has long been in an unhealthy state — and this is one of the reasons why I left Blizzard and founded Notorious. The industry is currently undergoing an incredibly transitional period, which is causing a lot of pain for studios and developers. Despite our efforts to create a small, flexible, and focused team, we too cannot stand aside from these tectonic shifts reshaping the industry. As difficult as it is — and for us too — I believe that in the long term, this will benefit both developers and players.
Eldegarde has already stopped selling on Steam, and the servers are scheduled to shut down on March 31. The game's creators \"still believe in the long-term prospects of Eldegarde\" and even hope to revive it someday.
