Before closing the servers, Wildlight Entertainment shared statistics on the popularity of the shooter Highguard. Studio director Chad Grenier noted that the game attracted more than 2 million players, which he called a good result, comparing it to the early stages of Apex Legends. The average game session lasted about 91 minutes, during which players participated in almost 3.5 matches.
The game was most popular on PS5 – more than twice as many people played on Sony consoles than on Xbox Series X/S and PC combined. Geographically, the United States led, followed by Japan. Interestingly, 92% of players successfully completed the training mission, which indicates a strong user base at the start.
The most popular heroine was Scarlet (chosen more than 1.5 million times), and the deadliest weapon was Vanguard, which destroyed almost 12 million enemies. Despite the appearance of the 5v5 mode, players preferred the classic 3v3, which accounted for more than 40% of matches, most of which ended with the destruction of the generator.
Despite the success, the studio admitted that the player base was not stable enough for the long-term existence of the project. The servers will close on March 12, 2026.
