Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Will Reimagine Leveling - More Time to Explore Classes

Blizzard has announced an overhaul of the leveling system in the Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred expansion. The game will allow players to better explore their chosen class and fully unlock its potential.

Project Director Colin Finer said in an interview that the changes will affect the early levels of characters:

How the leveling curve is currently structured: from level 1 to 20 or 25, you progress very quickly, almost instantly. We're going to move most of the monster slaying to the early stages, so leveling will be slower at the beginning, and there will be less action at higher levels... The idea is that you'll have a lot more skills available, you'll be killing a lot more monsters, and we want that to happen dynamically and at a steady pace throughout the game.

The innovation helps to gradually master skills, reinforcing them in "muscle memory" and revealing the features of classes more deeply. The new level limit allows you to develop even in the later stages of the game. Players will be able to spend more time as a Paladin or Warlock and better explore their abilities.

The Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred expansion will be released on April 28, 2026.
