Some players on PlayStation are purposefully engaged in knocking out "platinum" — virtual cups that are awarded for collecting all the other achievements in the game.
This audience is actively monetized by various developers, releasing simple low-quality games ("Shovelware") in which all achievements can be knocked out very quickly and practically without making any effort.
On the PSNProfiles service, you can track the statistics of such "trophy hunters", but soon everything will change. Recently, the owner of the resource announced a change in policy regarding Shovelware games.
During a discussion on the forum, Sly Ripper explained that low-quality games will no longer be taken into account in the leaderboard:
Shovelware will fade into the background: you won't see them in the leaderboard (except on the game list page, if you specifically enable the filter). The profile will still display all the games that someone has played, unless the person hides them in the PSN themselves.
Functions will also be cut for Shovelware: no leaderboards, clubs, or forums — it's pointless to spend resources on this. Shovelware is a plague. Leaderboards will now be meaningful.
