Resident Evil Requiem was recently released. Capcom used Denuvo to protect the PC version, but it didn't help much.

Hackers announced the "hack" of the new game on the day of release. The formidable protection was simply bypassed, using the popular "hypervisor" method. Previously, a similar method was used to deal with Denuvo in many other projects.

As it turned out, five systems were used to protect Resident Evil Requiem on PC at once:

  • Denuvo
  • Standard DRM from Steam
  • VMProtect
  • Capcom's own technology
  • SteamStub

However, there is a technical nuance: from a user security point of view, hacking through a "hypervisor" is not the best solution. To run the "crack", it is necessary to disable the PC protection systems, which creates additional risks.

Currently, tech enthusiasts are trying to develop a way to run "cracks" that will not require disabling protection and minimize risks.
