Former Santa Monica Studio developer Alana Pearce has defended the scenes, noting that while the mechanics may seem absurd today, they are inseparable from the hero's story.

Pearce's key argument: the mini-games were originally created by women. She cited the example of Aphrodite's room in God of War 3, which was designed by a group of women who deliberately used forms alluding to female anatomy.

Pearce emphasizes that removing these elements would weaken the meaning of Kratos' story in subsequent games. She highlights three reasons:

  • Character evolution: seeing Kratos in his original version makes his development in God of War (2018) and Ragnarok more touching.
  • Critique of anger: the old games did not praise the hero's lifestyle, but showed that his rage and romances do not bring satisfaction.
  • Human nature: sex is a natural part of life that creators often avoid due to embarrassment.

According to Pearce, preserving the original character of Kratos, with all his flaws, is important for the integrity of the entire series.
