Veterans of the competing project The Finals (Embark studio) came to the rescue. One of the players published a long post on the Marathon subreddit, urging fans to calm down and stop predicting disaster.
"We went through the same thing," the author explained. The Finals community also panicked after the premiere when the number of simultaneously playing users began to fall, but the game continued to live: new seasons are released regularly, and the base of dedicated players remains. The veteran advises Marathon fans not to compare every new release with anomalous releases like Helldivers 2 or Palworld.
He emphasizes that the success of a service game is not always measured by getting into the Steam top, and tracking only PC statistics ignores players on PlayStation and Xbox. The main thing is to enjoy the gameplay.
