The latest Resident Evil Requiem update unexpectedly downgraded the graphics on PS5 Pro. Capcom disabled ray tracing in the first Raccoon City area after patch 1.11, which was immediately noticed by players and bloggers.
The game still looks better than on regular consoles, but the changes affected global illumination: ray tracing was responsible for realistic reflections and the atmosphere of scenes. According to the developers' intention, the patch should reduce noise and artifacts, but in some frames, especially with diffused light on Leon and in open locations, the picture has become less impressive. The result is a compromise: a cleaner image, but part of the "wow effect" is lost.
Capcom decided to sacrifice some visual effects for the sake of stability. The problem only concerns the first area, so it is possible that the new patch will take into account community feedback.
