Recently, Peter Moore spoke with The Game Business. He shared memories of working as a manager at Electronic Arts.
In those years, he was responsible for the sports division. In 2012-2013, EA was recognized as the worst company in America (according to The Consumerist readers):
We were voted the worst company in America two years in a row — because of the ending of Mass Effect. Seriously, at that time BP was polluting the Gulf of Mexico, Bank of America collapsed the global economy with high-risk mortgage loans. But, here ***** Colonel Shepard dies in Mass Effect 3, and that's what makes us the worst company in America. That's what we had to go through.
In the interview, Peter Moore did not mention other events of those years that clearly influenced the fact that many voted to recognize EA as "the worst company in America."
For example, players didn't like the fact that the new SimCity was decided to be tied to online — a problem that Moore himself acknowledged in a statement in 2013. The imposition of the Origin service also caused discontent.
