Recently, Pearl Abyss stated that it plans to use the capabilities of Sony's most powerful console and the improved PSSR upscaler. Therefore, the editors of Digital Foundry, having gained access to the console version, first decided to check how the game works on PS5 Pro.

The version provided to journalists is not yet final, but close to the release version. The authors of the analysis note that they encountered glitches, minor visual errors, and problems with the denoiser in scenes with high contrast. At the same time, it is noted that the problems are less than in Resident Evil Requiem. The tested build also used the first generation PSSR.

Nevertheless, even now, ray tracing, available in all three graphics modes, has become one of the factors that makes Crimson Desert on PS5 Pro look impressive. Thanks to the collaboration between Pearl Abyss and Sony, the game demonstrates high-quality visuals and smooth performance.

Quality mode (30 FPS) and balanced mode (40 FPS) offer a more stable frame rate. Indicators above 60 FPS are mainly achieved on displays with VRR support, which the game already supports.

According to Digital Foundry specialists, stable 60 FPS is difficult to achieve even on PS5 Pro due to the processor – it remains a bottleneck even after overclocking. However, the journalists are still impressed with Pearl Abyss's result on their own engine and are waiting for the appearance of PSSR 2.0, which should further improve the game.
