Valve abandons new cases in Counter-Strike 2 due to loot box lawsuit - data miner

Valve was recently sued over loot boxes. A well-known Counter-Strike 2 data miner in the community, known as Thour, shared his vision.

He believes that Valve has decided to abandon traditional cases in CS2 and completely switch to a system with "terminals."

In regular cases, the player immediately received random items, but in the case of "terminals," the mechanics are different. The player opens it and receives an offer to purchase a specific item (it is selected randomly), and then makes a decision: buy the item or update the offer (the option is available a limited number of times).

Thour was prompted to think this way by the March update of Counter-Strike 2, which added a terminal with the "Dead Hand" collection to the game:

Now that the "Terminal" includes a collection of gloves and knives, I am even more convinced that there will be no more cases. Rest in peace, cases: August 14, 2013 to March 31, 2025.
