Square Enix teases with posts about Final Fantasy XIII. Players are waiting for a remaster

Japanese publisher Square Enix has been playing a strange game on social media for some time. The official accounts of the series regularly publish images, facts, and memories of Final Fantasy XIII, often on the 13th of the month.

For fans, each such post becomes a possible hint at the long-awaited remaster of the entire trilogy. However, months pass without official announcements, and irritation appears more and more often in the comments.

The reason for the interest in the new version is related to the availability of the games. FF13 games on Xbox Series X/S work thanks to backward compatibility, receiving increased resolution and more stable performance. They are not available on PS5 at all – you can only play on the old PS3. PC owners also face problems: versions on Steam have long been criticized for poor optimization and technical glitches.

Therefore, a full-fledged remaster with normal optimization seems almost obvious to Square Enix. Moreover, the company often re-releases even older and more niche projects. Some fans believe that activity on social networks is part of a prepared campaign, and the official announcement may take place in May 2026, for the 20th anniversary of the first showing of the game at the E3 exhibition.
