SoulCalibur or a new Smash Bros.? Bandai Namco is developing a new fighting game.

Fighting game fans have a new reason to be optimistic. Bandai Namco, the studio behind the Tekken and SoulCalibur series, clearly isn't planning on stopping there.

A new job posting has appeared online, indicating the development of a new fighting game. The Japanese website of Bandai Namco is looking for a game designer. The advertisement doesn't reveal the name of the project, but it describes key elements: "online battles," "player lobbies," "unique character strikes," "gameplay balance," as well as "an advanced character customization system" and NPCs.

Since Tekken 8 is still a fresh release, it's unlikely to be a sequel to the series. Some fans are hoping for the return of the slightly forgotten SoulCalibur series. There's also another scenario: Bandai Namco previously participated in the creation of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch, so an unexpected new Smash is also possible.
