Cold Shower for Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Developers. The Game Was Not Liked by Players from Japan

Although the French RPG broke Elden Ring's records for the number of "Game of the Year" nominations, it did not receive a single award at the Famitsu magazine awards. The project was nominated in the "Best Role-Playing Game" and "Best Debut" categories, but it lost to Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

In the ranking of the 20 best games of the year according to Japanese players, Clair Obscur took only 14th place, losing to global hits like Monster Hunter Wilds and Ghost of Yotei, as well as local projects, such as Urban Myth Dissolution Center. The main winner was Silent Hill f, which received the title of "Game of the Year."

The contrast between the enthusiasm in the West and the coldness in Japan shows how different the tastes of players are. For the rest of the world, Expedition 33 is a new word in the genre, but for the Japanese audience, it remains an interesting but secondary game.
