Handheld Mode Boost has become available on Nintendo Switch 2, and the first tests of the new feature have appeared online. It should bring the quality of games in handheld mode closer to what players see when connecting the console to a TV - with better performance and a clearer picture.
Nintendo warns of compromises: the feature increases power consumption, which reduces battery life. The effect also depends on the specific game — not all projects receive a noticeable increase.
The tests checked dozens of titles, including Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Astral Chain, NieR Automata, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Bayonetta 3, DOOM Eternal, and others. In many cases, there is a noticeable improvement: the image has become cleaner, some artifacts have disappeared, and stability has increased.
Players have positively assessed the innovation — Nintendo has noticeably improved old games on the new console.
