In March, Sony introduced firmware update 13.50 for PlayStation 4. The list of changes includes only one item with a general description:

We have improved messaging and usability on some screens.

However, some tech enthusiasts are sounding the alarm and urging not to install the firmware update for PlayStation 4.

Modders reported that with the 13.50 firmware update, Sony quietly made changes to the security system:

Reports are confirmed that the Use-After-Free (UAF) vulnerability, which was used to enter userland, is completely closed.

This update closed a loophole that would have allowed launching a potential Kernel Exploit (Kexploit; if it is ever found).

It is also noted that the update will prevent the launch of unofficial software: "[the Use-After-Free fix] practically destroys any hope of homebrew for this version for a very long time (possibly years)."
