Animula Nook was supposed to be an "Animal Crossing killer" at least in terms of graphics, but in the end, there was a serious downgrade.
Tencent has launched the first playtest, and it turned out that the previously shown materials were heavily modified – the "gameplay" looked better than the game does now.
In the final version, the graphics are noticeably simpler than in the publisher's early videos, which were presented as gameplay. Does this mean failure? It's too early to draw such conclusions. Animula Nook still looks decent compared to competitors thanks to its bright style. For some of the audience of cozy games in the style of Animal Crossing, visual detail is not the top priority.
The closed playtest has started and will last for several days on Steam. The Tencent game will be released on PS5, PC, and smartphones and will be distributed under a free-to-play model.
