The proceedings with Krafton are not yet over.
Recently, Ted Gill was reinstated by court order with "full operational authority" over Unknown Worlds. Shortly thereafter, Krafton announced the May release of Subnautica 2.
However, these plans may change, as the returning developer has complaints against Krafton. His lawyers sent a letter to the court: they believe that the announcement was made incorrectly and it potentially "damaged the game and sowed additional confusion in the Subnautica community."
In addition, the lawyers also suggested that Krafton be found in contempt of court.
It seems that the problem is not so much with the "May release" as with Krafton's approach to its announcement. The fact is that this release window became known from a letter from the head of Unknown Worlds, Steve Papoutsis — he was previously appointed to this position after the dismissal of Ted Gill.
