Recently, some Warframe players began receiving mysterious and frightening messages. The invitation system was used to send them out.
Users were sent an invitation and a window appeared on their screen with the message: "Your account has been compromised [hacked]."
Digital Extremes has temporarily disabled the sending of invitations in Warframe to protect the community. No confirmed cases of account theft have been recorded yet.
Warframe fans have suggested that hackers were able to find a way to intercept the original notification and replace it with their own text.
