On March 17, 2026, Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor premiered – an attempt to bring the brand into the world of video games. Dovetail Games decided to go big, offering a semi-open world where you can freely explore the Island of Sodor. The project is designed for a younger audience.
The gameplay focuses on completing tasks in a simulation style: from transporting goods to story missions. You can take control of Thomas, Percy, or Gordon. The emphasis is on accessible controls and a calm pace, so that the game is understandable even to the youngest players. The Island of Sodor is presented as a single space with elements of exploration and recognizable fairytale stylistics.
Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor does not pretend to be the main premiere of the year, but tries to find its niche. The numbers are not yet encouraging: the peak online in Steam was about 1098 people. This is one of the worst results in the history of Dovetail Games and the lowest figure for the entire Train Sim World franchise, on which the game about Thomas is based.
