Starfield on Nintendo Switch 2: Insider Reveals Truth About Development Progress

After rumors of a possible cancellation of the port, a faint hope has emerged for the release of Bethesda's space RPG on Switch 2.

Starfield is another Xbox Game Studios project that will be coming to other platforms. The game will be released on PS5 on April 7. Despite past negative forecasts, a version for the new Nintendo console is likely being created.

Insider NateTheHate reported on X that development is continuing, but "it hasn't been the smoothest process. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best." This statement comes amid words from another reliable insider, shinobi602, who claimed last month that the port was "shelved" and "may not come out at all." It seems Bethesda hasn't given up yet, but there are no guarantees of release.

This is not the first time major studios have faced difficulties porting their games to Switch 2. Just remember Gearbox and Borderlands 4. Bethesda has successful experience porting anniversary editions of Skyrim and Fallout 4, but Starfield is a different level in scale.

The situation is complicated by the upcoming Free Lanes update.
