In March, Resident Evil fans are celebrating the franchise's third jubilee. Producer Jun Takeuchi addressed the community:
Today marks the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have supported us throughout this journey — from the release of the first game on March 22, 1996. Last month, we released Resident Evil Requiem. Returning to Raccoon City, the city where it all began, we combined the two "hearts" of the series — horror and action — and packed them into one game. Currently, Requiem has already been played by over six million players worldwide. Thank you so much!
Takeuchi confirmed that Capcom will continue to develop the Resident Evil franchise:
Our team will continue to strive to bring you even more vivid and exciting experiences. It would be a great honor for us if you continue this journey with us. Thank you for your support!
Some fans are urging Capcom to remake Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
