Bloomberg Revealed Insiders About Switch 2: Nintendo Urgently Redoing the Console

According to Bloomberg, the corporation has decided to reduce the production volume of Nintendo Switch 2, while preparing to release an updated model of the console.

Last week, it became known that the Japanese are working on a new version of the device, and the changes will not only be cosmetic. The company is allegedly developing a version with a replaceable battery, which will be a response to EU regulations.

The editors confirmed that the updated Nintendo Switch 2 should be released on the market in the next financial year (from March 31, 2026 to April 1, 2027). The release is not as far away as it seemed: the company is clearly accelerating to bring the "hardware" into compliance with European laws.

However, this is not the only important change in strategy. Bloomberg reveals that Nintendo has reduced production of Switch 2, as demand (especially in the US) has been lower than expected. In the current quarter, the company will release about 4 million consoles instead of the planned 6 million.

The situation is surprising, because at the start this console showed record results, but later sales declined. President Shuntaro Furukawa admitted that sales outside of Japan were "weaker than expected".
