No Vacation for an Executioner was recently released on PC on Steam. JayO positions the project as a retro-PS2 style horror-action RPG.

From a gameplay perspective, the game resembles a souslike. The events unfold at the end of the 17th century. The story centers around a disappointed executioner who escapes from the scaffold — the hero will have to take responsibility for this act:

His escape triggered a monster rebellion, and now he must end the chaos, cleanse the world, and uncover the mystery of the "Dark Oil".

Among the sources of inspiration, JayO cites Claude Queni's book "The Hangman of Paris" and the dark paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński: "However, as it may seem at first glance, the plot is not related to the history of the Sanson dynasty at all."

A demo version of No Vacation for an Executioner is available on Steam.
