Stranger Than Heaven from the creators of Yakuza: first details and release in Game Pass

The collaboration between Microsoft and Sega is bearing fruit: Stranger Than Heaven, a new project from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, was presented at the Xbox Partner Preview event. The developers showed gameplay and announced the presentation "Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven", which will be held on May 7, 2026.

The new trailer revealed details. The action will unfold in five different eras (from 1915 to 1965) and will cover five Japanese cities. Players will find a dynamic and brutal combat system: from mass brawls to the use of weapons and interactive environments. The developers emphasize that this is "only a foretaste of the possibilities."

The video also featured the signature features of the Yakuza series: exploring cities, riding trams, potential romances, and elaborate details like food. All this is complemented by an energetic jazz soundtrack. The studio also hints at the appearance of familiar characters, but details are kept secret for now.

More details about the plot, combat system and cast will be revealed in May. The game will be added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog on the day of release.
