While Square Enix celebrates triumph in 2025, becoming the best publisher of the year according to Metacritic, it's time to talk about the main losers.
No company has fallen in the ranking as much as Sony. If last year the PS5 manufacturer occupied the fourth line, then in the list for 2025 it dropped to 21st place with an average score of 7.4/10. This is worse than the results of Atari or Pqube. Sony's highest-rated game in 2025 was the PC port – The Last of Us Part II (9.0/10). Nacon is also doing poorly: the publisher, which announced a loss of liquidity, took only 26th place.
On the contrary, Konami showed significant growth, rising from 25th to 15th position. Nintendo is also celebrating success, jumping from 22nd to 12th place. Xbox also had a successful year: Microsoft games received an average rating of 8.0/10, which allowed the company to rise from ninth to fifth place. It was not enough to reach the podium: the leader Square Enix had an average score of 8.4/10, and Capcom in third place – 8.3/10.
