The developers will improve the engine and various elements of the game.
The authors of the pirate RPG Caribbean Legend recently released a teaser trailer for the major 2.0 update:
Caribbean Legend 2.0 is what we all dreamed of. This is the biggest and most significant update to "Pirates of the Caribbean" in 23 years. And it will extend their life for just as long.
Some of the developers' plans:
- Direct dynamic lighting — sunlight is now fully dynamic, with a smooth change of time of day.
- Ambient lighting — ambient light gently changes depending on the time of day.
- Added natural shading in joints, recesses, and corners.
- Full PBR pipeline with reflections, highlights, normal maps, and glow effects.
- HDRI reflection maps — used for more realistic reflections on objects and surfaces.
- Added a soft glow effect for bright reflections and glowing objects.
- Redesign and improvement of all city locations, jungles, beaches, most interiors
- Remaster of objects in locations
- Redesign of visual effects — fire, smoke, and so on
- Improvement of the sound system and sounds — for new weather, wind, environment
- Redesign of weapons and equipment
