Kingdom Hearts series fans should be patient. Although Kingdom Hearts IV was announced back in April 2022, the project has not acquired any new materials or specifics regarding the release date since then.
A hint about future plans was given by the series director Tetsuya Nomura. On the occasion of the franchise's 24th anniversary, a commemorative illustration was published, to which the creator attached a message for fans. He noted that the teams are working with an eye on the cycle's 25th anniversary, which falls in March 2027.
This hints that fresh details about the game may appear then. In that case, the break in communication from the moment of the first announcement will be as long as five years. Currently, gameplay details and the release date are missing, and the studio is focused on finalizing the project before the next presentation.
The game is expected to be released on PS5 and XSX|S. For now, fans can only wait for official news from Square Enix closer to the anniversary date.
