Pokémon Champions will be available for free on Nintendo Switch from April 8, and will later arrive on mobile devices. However, the developers have confirmed that the project will offer an extensive system of microtransactions, including a battle pass and a paid subscription.
Players will be able to purchase a starter pack for $9.99. It will increase the capacity of the Pokémon storage from 30 to 80 slots and provide additional bonuses, such as exclusive music and special training tickets.
The game will also feature a battle pass – it will be available in free and paid ($6.99) versions. The paid version will offer additional rewards and unique costumes.
The most extensive option will be an annual subscription priced at $49.99. It will provide expanded space for Pokémon, the ability to use more teams simultaneously, as well as access to exclusive missions and soundtracks.
The business model indicates that the game will be developed as a service, focusing on regular rewards and long-term audience retention.
