Hints of a possible collaboration between Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil franchise, and Shift Up studio, responsible for Stellar Blade, have appeared online. Both parties have almost simultaneously published mysterious teasers, indicating an upcoming announcement.
Mikami's new studio, Unbound, and the Shift Up team shared materials of a similar nature. In both cases, the identical phrase "Announcement Coming Soon…" appears, as well as a similar style of presentation. The announcement from Shift Up specifies a specific date – April 1, 2026, which hints at an imminent disclosure of project details.
Of additional interest is the video published by Unbound, which shows Mikami talking to a mysterious interlocutor.
"Let's create games together that will change the world," says the legendary developer, to which the second person replies: "I will do everything in my power." The remarks only fuel rumors about a potential collaboration between the two teams.
So far, neither side has officially confirmed the collaboration. However, the coincidence of messages and timing makes the partnership scenario likely.
