Alarm around the series intensified when executive producer Julian Gerighty left Massive Entertainment in early 2026 to join the Battlefield team at EA. However, the developers were quick to reassure fans. Senior producer Fredrik Brönjemark assured that Gerighty's departure "is not a distraction."
As for The Division 3, our future and roadmap are already guaranteed. We know exactly where we are going and what we want to do.
While the sequel is in preparation, The Division 2 is breaking records. With the release of the "Battle for Brooklyn" expansion in 2025, the game reached a historical peak on Steam – 27,482 concurrent players. Despite the success, the studio refuses to turn the project into a free-to-play one, preferring to maintain the current monetization model, which "respects players."
Creative director Yannick Banchereau noted that the experience of supporting the current installment gives The Division 3 a huge technical advantage.
