Mojang Studios' game has become a tool for fraudsters.
Recently, officials in Russia have turned their attention to the popular sandbox game Minecraft. The Moscow Department of Education and Science warned children about fraudulent schemes that are carried out using in-game chats:
Fraudsters have started deceiving children through the game Minecraft. Schoolchildren are found in game chats, then the correspondence is transferred to Telegram, supposedly to discuss game moments
After establishing contact, the fraudsters in Telegram introduce themselves as "cybersecurity officers" and accuse children of transmitting certain information to special services.
Then they start threatening detention, forcing minors to rob their parents and give the money to couriers.
