According to a leak, the company is developing PlayStation Play Go technology, which should function similarly to Smart Delivery, known from Microsoft consoles. Information about this appeared on the Moore’s Law Is Dead YouTube channel – it was the first to present data on the PS6, a portable version of the console, and previously on the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PSSR technology.
The leak suggests that "PlayStation Play Go should become part of the new development tools and will allow creators to divide game files into separate packages for specific devices." In practice, this would mean that the console only downloads the data that it actually needs. This is important, as today a single distribution often includes heavy resources intended for more powerful hardware, even if the user is playing on a weaker configuration.
The technology can really help save space and reduce loading times. Sources, relying on early leaks from MLID, also suggested that Sony is preparing a development environment for energy-saving modes and weak device configurations.
