CD Projekt RED's game will become more technologically advanced and look even better on PS5 Pro.
The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 have presented a selection of frames from the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro update. Players can expect improved ray tracing and other technologies.
A representative from CD Projekt RED spoke about their approach to the work:
We wanted to make the most of the advanced technologies of the PS5 Pro, bringing 4K resolution graphics, improved performance, enhanced ray tracing, and more to Cyberpunk 2077. The goal was to squeeze the most out of the "hardware" and our game, so that Night City shines as brightly as possible. Thanks to the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is already available in the PlayStation Plus game catalog, any PS5 Pro owner will be able to try this improved version of the game.
Thanks to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, various objects, such as thermal katanas and cars, "come to life."
Also, the authors of Cyberpunk 2077 have updated the ray tracing technology. Support for BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) for RT lighting, shadows, and reflections has been implemented in the game, which allowed the developers to "bring the lighting closer to their artistic vision."
Three modes will be available to players on PS5 Pro:
- Ray Tracing Pro — includes all available ray tracing enhancements (40 FPS on displays with VRR and 30 FPS in other cases)
- "Performance" Mode — mode is focused "on providing the highest possible frame rate for fast and smooth gameplay." On displays with VRR support, the frequency reaches 90 FPS
- Ray Tracing — mode offers a balance between graphics and performance. It includes some ray tracing improvements, while the game will run at 60 FPS
The release of the Cyberpunk 2077 update for PlayStation 5 Pro will take place on April 8.
