Will Crimson Desert be released on Nintendo Switch 2 - Digital Foundry commentary

Pearl Abyss has confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of porting Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2. Digital Foundry conducted an analysis and noted that the project is in its early stages.

Experts noted that if Crimson Desert does make it to Switch 2 in a recognizable form, it will be a port of the "impossible" kind. Months, or perhaps years, will pass before the release.

As a benchmark, experts take the version for Xbox Series S, where models, textures, and shadows are already cut down, but the game runs at 720p in performance mode and 1080p in quality. Switch 2 will probably have to reduce the resolution even further and use DLSS. The main problem is the processor: large battles and populated locations heavily load the CPU, which on the weak "hardware" of Switch 2 will require cutting down on NPCs, draw distance, and the scale of battles.

It will probably be necessary to abandon ray tracing, complex lighting, and many graphics settings. A likely scenario is one 30 FPS mode without additional options. Digital Foundry noted that Pearl Abyss knows how to optimize the game, so an ambitious port is possible, albeit difficult.
