Sony expected stronger results. Just a month after its release, the game dropped out of Steam's top 50 sales and, at the time of publication, ranks 61st.
Player activity is also declining. According to SteamDB, the online presence has decreased from approximately 88,000 to 28–30,000 users at the daily peak. The trend remains downward, which raises questions for Sony.
According to journalist Paul Tassi from Forbes, Marathon's main audience was on PC, while the console versions showed weaker results.
At the same time, the publisher still has options to stabilize the situation, such as reducing the price or releasing major updates. Similar cases have already shown that this can revive interest in the game.
