Sometimes the wildest dreams really do come true, as streamer Gothalion proved, whose request from almost two years ago was implemented in No Man's Sky.
In September 2024, he wrote on X that the game lacks a "pokemon update":
The only thing missing from [No Man’s Sky] is a pokemon update. Let me catch, train, and fight the creatures I find. Build an arena in the anomaly. You can do it, Sean.
And, it seems, the Hello Games team really was able to implement it. The Xeno Arena update just adds the mechanics of catching, training, and fighting creatures.
In response to the publication, developer Sean Murray wrote briefly:
We did it.
It remains unknown whether the streamer's old message became a direct inspiration for the update or coincided with already planned ideas, but the very fact caused a stir in the community.
