The authors of Dune: Awakening have studied the statistics and decided to revise the concept of the project. Now Funcom is focusing on the PvE component of the game.
As it turned out, more than 80% of regular players in Dune: Awakening play exclusively in PvE content:
Comparing our goals, in-game data, and player survey results clearly showed that we need to rethink our approach and emphasize the priority of the game's PvE focus. While PvP battles are important to some players in Dune: Awakening, they should be optional and encouraged, not required for progression.
The developers have decided to cut some PvP content from Dune: Awakening:
- PvP zones in Hagga Basin will be removed on official servers
- Separate instances of Deep Desert will appear on all official servers — players will be able to choose PvE or PvE mode.
They also noted that players will soon be able to launch their own server. Existing characters will be allowed to be transferred.
