Recently, The CyberSec Guru reported a successful hacking attack by the ShinyHunters group. To hack the data storage, they used the Anodot analytical platform, which is used at Rockstar.
The attackers posed as a "legitimate internal service" and were able to obtain information. Now they are demanding a ransom, with a deadline of April 14, otherwise they will publish the materials in the public domain.
Rockstar Games has confirmed the hack and clarified that the hacking attack did not affect operations or players:
We can confirm that as a result of a data breach at a third-party service, [hackers] obtained a limited amount of non-essential company information. This incident does not affect the operation of our organization or our players in any way.
