P2:CE Team modders have reminded us of the upcoming launch of the Portal 2: Community Edition project. Valve has allowed them to present it on PC in Steam.
This is an alternative version of Portal 2 supported by the fan community. Enthusiasts are improving the way content is created and mastered: adding features (such as a new scripting system) and an improved Hammer Editor map editor.
Portal 2: CE includes native DirectX 11 support and a 64-bit version of Source, physically correct rendering of material surfaces, a new "Clustered forward lighting" system with volumetric lighting support, and previous engine limitations have either been completely removed or their limit has been increased.
