The developers of the long-haul truck driver simulator American Truck Simulator have launched an open beta test of update 1.59. It includes technical improvements and more.
A new towing feature has been added — you can now call a tow truck not only to deliver the truck to the garage for repairs, but also to return it to the road (if it has gone off the road and cannot get out on its own).
In addition, the interface has been improved — the "Damage" and "Finance" sections have been added.
The developers have also redesigned the skill interface, fixed the sound of road traffic, and made improvements to the Height Blend function:
You can now enable derived normal maps to save video memory (GPU), and several graphical issues have been fixed for more stable and visually accurate results.
