Fairgames Leaks from PlayStation - Informant Reveals Mode and Match Structure

Sony continues to invest in games-as-a-service. Work on Fairgames is still ongoing, and insider Tom Henderson has revealed the first details of the project.

After the failure of Concord and problems with Marathon, the PlayStation division is not abandoning the games-as-a-service model and continues to develop new projects. One of them is Fairgames.

According to leaks, the game from Haven Studios is shifting towards an extraction shooter, although it was previously described as "PvP heists." Essentially, it's a mix of raids, contracts, and extraction with loot.

The key mode is Cargo Heist, divided into 3 stages. In Break In, players obtain the code to the safe, collect money, and level up their character. Then, in Drill, the main heist begins: teams fight for the cargo or try to intercept it from rivals. The final stage is Extract, where you need to deliver the loot to the extraction point and leave the map. If you fail, you only have one escape attempt left.

According to insiders, the project has been facing difficulties for a long time. Testers note a lack of "fun factor," a sense of enjoyment from the game. The situation was further complicated by Jade Raymond's departure in 2025.

At the same time, PlayStation continues to believe in the project and is preparing new tests. Fairgames will be free-to-play with microtransactions. This may ensure a high starting online presence, but it does not guarantee player retention.

The bottom line is an ambitious but risky project.
