The authors of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era continue to share details about the project and development. Recently, a representative of the Unfrozen studio spoke about balancing the difficulty of PvE.

The developers of the new game were helped by advice from John Van Caneghem, the creator of the Might & Magic and "Heroes" franchises. At Unfrozen, the term Fun AI (Fun Artificial Intelligence) was used when working on AI for PvE — AI "should be smart, but not too smart."

Sometimes an opponent bot can perform "reckless" actions to keep the player in suspense. This bot "understands that it will not win — it will be destroyed. But it still performs this action, just to keep you in suspense and remind you that the basis of the game is attrition. So if you want to move forward, you'll have to start losing something."

According to a representative of Unfrozen, the collaboration with Van Caneghem was "extremely fruitful" for the studio.

Players will be able to feel the effect of the changes: artificial intelligence at an easy level of difficulty will be "a little easier than in the demo version", and at a difficult level — "a little more difficult". After the launch, work on balancing will continue, using the data received from the players.

The release of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era in early access is expected on April 30. You can add the game to your Steam wishlist via the following link.
