In the social network X, the game director of Marathon released a new statement with the subtitle "What the heck, WSTR?!"
Ziegler announced that as early as this Tuesday, April 21, at approximately 19:00 Moscow time, a new patch will be released that will balance one of the strongest types of weapons in Marathon. Of course, we are talking about the WSTR double-barreled shotgun, which kills even well-equipped players with two hits.
After the update, this feature of the shotgun will remain, but only against low-level shields - white and green. Blue, purple, and gold shields on players will now give you the opportunity to win back the advantage in close combat.
We are going to balance the WSTR. It has become a dominant option and overshadows many other close combat options that are in the game. SO... On Tuesday 21/4 (probably 8:00 AM PT) the WSTR will no longer be able to take down an enemy player with blue shields or higher with two shots. In most cases, this will force a reload in scenarios where the target has a blue shield, allowing more opportunities for the attacked player to counter-play.
However, the game director said nothing about the balance of the modification that allows you to accumulate more than 2 shots in the WSTR - perhaps it will also be balanced in the future.
