Nacon, which is experiencing financial problems, cannot turn the situation around.
It was previously reported that the reviews for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss were far from ideal. This affected interest in the game. On release day, April 16, the project attracted only 438 concurrent players on Steam. This is significantly below expectations and worse than many indie releases.
Another Nacon horror game, The Occultist, performed even worse. The game, published by Daedalic Entertainment (the company belongs to Nacon), gathered only 233 concurrent players on release day, April 8. The project\'s reviews are higher than Cthulhu\'s (76% on average), but that was not enough to attract an audience.
Nacon recently reported a loss of financial liquidity and continues to face problems. The failures of the two horror games are not the only setbacks of recent weeks. Earlier, the company released version 1.0 of the role-playing game GreedFall: The Dying World with many critical bugs, especially on consoles. On PC, the average rating was 62%.
GreedFall: The Dying World likely became the last game by the team specializing in RPGs. On March 30, Nacon put the Spiders studio up for sale. If no buyer is found in the coming weeks, the studio will be closed.
