Insider KeplerL2 stated on the NeoGAF forum that Microsoft is preparing major changes to its hardware strategy. According to his information, Helix allegedly will not be a console created by the company from Redmond itself, but a device from third-party partners, including ASUS, similar to the ROG Ally.
For part of the audience, anticipation for a new console quickly gave way to concerns that Xbox would finally move away from manufacturing devices on its own.
The situation was commented on by Jason Ronald, Vice President of Xbox Devices and Ecosystem. He published a short message to stop the speculation.
His statement was direct: "Project Helix will be available as a first-party console." This confirmed that Microsoft is not handing control of its device over to third-party companies and continues to remain responsible for developing the new Xbox itself.
