NCSoft has unveiled AION 2, a new online free-to-play game where "the skies have become the battlefield." The entire design of the project is built around traversing the world and fighting in the air.
The company stated that this is the only MMORPG where aerial combat is not an addition, but the reason this world exists. Every region, every battlefield, every conflict is designed around the idea of the skies.
The publisher promises a world 36 times larger than in the first AION. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5. The English-language version is already in the final stage, so the release is expected in the coming months on PC via Steam. The developers will reveal new details in May.
The original AION received positive reviews and in 2009 won awards, including "Game of the Year" from MMORPG.com and "Best Online Game" at the Gamescom Awards.
