It looks like Nintendo may get its own counterpart to It Takes Two. A new exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2 called Orbitals already looks like a potential summer hit.
The project is being handled by the Tokyo-based studio Shapefarm, which previously worked on supporting games like Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. Creative director Jakob Lundgren previously participated in the development of the co-op projects A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Split Fiction.
Now the team is making its own game for two players. Orbitals is done in the style of 1980s–1990s anime.
A gameplay trailer has appeared online, in which Lundgren and Marcos Ramos showcase the co-op mode. One player charges the CH1B1 drone using a beam weapon, while the other uses the Scrap Hook to interact with objects and overcome obstacles. The developers emphasize that each player will have their own unique gameplay.
The release of Orbitals is scheduled for summer, but the exact date has not yet been announced.
