Today, many people remember Fallout: New Vegas fondly and praise Obsidian Entertainment's game. For some, this installment is the best game in the franchise, but at release the attitude toward it was completely different.
The game launched with a huge number of technical problems, which affected its reception by the press. Recently, the writer of Fallout: New Vegas spoke with the author of the YouTube channel TKs-Mantis and shared memories of how Bethesda literally pointed the developers to their mistakes. These were not just "verbal reproaches" — according to Avellone, an entire PowerPoint presentation was created for Obsidian Entertainment breaking down the game's problems:
[Bethesda] had an entire PowerPoint presentation. And not just about the bugs in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on — it was a presentation with a list of everything Obsidian did wrong, and we were like, "wow!" And they showed it to us. And we were like... "well okay." Really boosts morale, you know
Chris Avellone said that Bethesda used the DLC scores against Obsidian, saying, "this is why they do not want to keep working with us." In the Fallout: New Vegas writer's opinion, the company would not have continued cooperating with the developers in any case.
