In April, Blizzard Entertainment released update 12.0.5 for World of Warcraft: Midnight. It turned out to be not just "bad," but terrible — players encountered a series of critical bugs that began to break game mechanics.

The WoW team apologized to players. The developers promise to learn from this problematic launch:

The launch of patch 12.0.5 did not meet our standards, and we understand that this disrupted your gameplay experience and caused entirely justified dissatisfaction. Since release, the team has been working around the clock to stabilize the game and fix the most serious issues that players encountered right away [...] We truly care about this game, and we play it together with you. We will do better.

After installing WoW 12.0.5, the developers temporarily disabled the housing system because errors were discovered. Other gameplay mechanics, such as mounts and abilities, also became buggy and did not work correctly; for example, players could not mount an animal.

The Decor Duel mode — a hide-and-seek mode in the spirit of Prop Hunt — was essentially broken. Players really can transform into an environmental object to hide, but the person searching for them could still use buffs or abilities, such as "Track Humanoids" (for the Druid class). This made it easy to track the location of other characters. As a result, the "hide-and-seek" turned into a kind of "tag," since it was practically impossible to stay hidden.
